      French Lawhorn was also known as Dutch Lawhorn. He, son of Charles Lawhorn and Sarah Louise Hatton, was born July 1874 in Wayne County, West Virginia.1,2 French Lawhorn was the son of Charles Lawhorn and Sarah Louise Hatton. French Lawhorn married Ardella Mathes on 29 August 1897..3,4 The marriage record has Mathes but burial records indicate Cardwell.3,4
The census of 1 June 1900 enumerated on 19 June 1900 in the Union District, Wayne County, West Virginia, listed the following:
French Lawhorn, 25-year-old head of household, a farmer, married 3 years.5
Ardelia "Lawhorn", 19-year-old wife, married 3 years with 1 child who was still living.5
Clarance "Lawhorn", 1-year-old son.5



The census of 15 April 1910 enumerated on 6 May 1910 in Precinct 21, Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia, listed the following:
French Lawhorn, 38-year-old head of household, a farm hand, married 12 years.6
Ardelia "Lawhorn", 29-year-old wife, married 12 years with 5 children all of whom were still living.6
Clarence "Lawhorn", 11-year-old son.6
Birdie "Lawhorn", 9-year-old daughter.6
William "Lawhorn", 7-year-old son.6
Bascum "Lawhorn", 5-year-old son.6
Maggie "Lawhorn", 3-year-old daughter.6


His wife, Ardelia Lawhorn, died in 1954 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia.3 French Lawhorn died in April 1955 in Cabell County, West Virginia.7 He was buried in the Crooks Chapel Cemetery, Cabell County, West Virginia.8
