Nancy Dobyns White liked to take walks and, in her younger days, play softball.
She was really good at cooking, to my great delight, Thomas G. White said of his wife of 57 years. She was best at making pies and desserts.
Mrs. White died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at her home in Columbia. She was 82.
She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Ava to Victor and Maud Carrick Dobyns. She married Thomas White on March 1, 1946, in Springfield, Mo.
Mrs. White was a retired secretary.
She attended Southwest Missouri State University for two years, where her father was on the Board of Regents. After his death 20 years ago, she and her husband set up a scholarship at SMSU in his name.
Mrs. White is survived by her husband and her daughter, Melinda White, of Atlanta, Ga.
Her sister died earlier.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Columbia Cemetery. Burial will follow.
