Stella never married; was a liberated woman before it became popular. She was a free lance journalist and world traveler. She was responsible for the genealogic research done on the Baird family tree. Her original motive was to establish her qualifications for the DAR and similar organizations. However, as her correspondence indicates, she fell victim to genealogy fever. She did, in fact, establish her family tree back to the revolution, first families of Virginia. Descendents of Knights of the Garter, and similar organizations. However, it was not through the Bairds, but through her mother, Serepta Taylor.4
She died at age 98 years in June 1979. Her last residence was in Oakland, Alameda County, California, 94602.2
