William Jerome Willingham was a Methodist. He was born 6 June 1836 in Brush Creek, Graves County, Kentucky.1 He was the son of Alexander H. Willingham and Mary H. Murray. On the census of 1840 in Graves County, Kentucky, William Jerome was probably a male under 5 years of age residing with A. H. Wellingham.2 The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 31 August 1850 in Graves County, Kentucky, listed William "Willingham", born in Kentucky as a 14-year-old male residing with A. H. Willingham.3 The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 8 September 1860 in the Mayfield post office area of Graves County, Kentucky, listed Jerome "Willingham" as a 23-year-old residing with A. H. Willingham.4 He served in the military from 1861 to 1865; in Company L, 3rd Kentucky Mounted Infantry, CSA.5 He married his first cousin, Sarah Ann Willingham, daughter of James W. Willingham and Mary E. __?__, in 1865..1
