Lewis Cullum Lawhorn as a young man.
     Lewis Cullum Lawhorn was born 23 October 1851 in Clinton County, Kentucky.1,2 He was the son of James Lowhorn and Lavina Pierce. The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 27 June 1860 in the Albany post office area of Clinton County, Kentucky, listed Lewis "Lowhorn" as a 8-year-old residing with James Lowhorn.3 Lewis Cullum Lawhorn began military service on 19 June 1865 in Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky; as a private in Company E of the South Cumberland Battalion. He had enrolled on 1 June 1865.4 He ended military service on 23 October 1865 in Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky.4 He married Priscilla Caldonia Hancock, daughter of James F. Hancock and Mary Elizabeth Light Craft, on 8 January 1879 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas..5
The census of 1 June 1880 enumerated on 9 June 1880 in Precinct 3, Paris, Lamar County, Texas, listed the following:
L. C. Lawhorn, 26-year-old head of household, a farmer.6
P. C. "Lawhorn", 18-year-old wife.6
Lewis Cullum Lawhorn had all his Estate including his land siezed and sold at auction to satisfy a judgement against him on 14 July 1882 in Lamar County, Texas,
     The State of Texas Lamar County
     Know all men by these presents that whereas by virtue of a Certain Execution issued out of the justice court Precinct No 1 of the County of Lamar in favor of C C Broden vs L C Lawhorn and Nute Stephenson on a certain judgment rendered on the 6th day of May 1882 and directed and delivered to me as Constable of Lamar County Commanding me of the goods chattels lands and tenements of the said L C Lawhorn and Nute Stephenson to make Certain moneys be paid writ mentioned I James A Boothe Constable as afore said did upon the 14th day of July 1882 levy on and seize all the Estate right title and interest which the said defendants on the 6th day of May 1882 so had of in and to the premises hereinafter described and on the first tuesday in September 1882 within the hour prescribed by law sold said premises at public vendue in the County of Lamar at the door of the Court House thereof having first given public notice of the time and place of sale by causing an advertisement thereof to be posted up at three public places in the County aforesaid one of which was the Court House door of said County for twenty days previous to said sale; and whereas at said sale the said premises were struck off to C C Braden for the sum of Sixty sever and 25/100 Dollars being the highest bidder therefor and that being the highest secure bid for the same. Now therefore in Consideration of the premises aforesaid and of the judgment of the said sum of sixty seven and -------- the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged.
     I James A Booth Constable as aforesaid have sold and by these presents do grant and Convey unto the said C C Braden all the Estate right title and interest which the said L C Lawhorn and Nute Stephenson had on the 6th day of may 1882 on oh anytime afterwards in and to the following described premises Viz about 58 acres of land on Huds Creek in Lamar County Texas, a part of the Sam Lemmons head right. Bounded on the north by land owned by U Hearon and m g Stephenson and Alfred Stephens on the West by Huds Creek on the South by W. J. Kirkpatrick and on the East by J W Stephenson To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said C C Braden his heirs and assigns forever as bully and as absolute as I as Constable aforesaid Can Convey by virtue of said writ.
     In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this fifth day of September 1882. - - - - - - - - - J A Booth Constable Lamar County Texas.7

Jas. D. "Lawhorn", 18-year-old son.8
Estella R. "Lawhorn", 11-year-old daughter.8
Ruth W. "Lawhorn", 8-year-old daughter.8
Mary L. "Lawhorn", 4-year-old daughter.8

The census of 1 January 1920 enumerated on 13 January 1920 in Hugo, Choctaw County, Oklahoma, listed the following:
Louis Lawhorn, 68-year-old head of household, a day laborer.9
Donie, 58-year-old wife.9
Craft W., 13-year-old son.9
He died on 9 October 1928 at Eastern Oklahoma Hospital in Vinita, Craig County, Oklahoma, of exhaustion and senile psychosis.1,2 He was buried on 19 October 1928 in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hugo, Choctaw County, Oklahoma.1,2,10
