Maria Barbara Sprigg, daughter of Ignatius Taylor Sprigg, was born about 1810 in Maryland.1,2 Maria Barbara Sprigg married Alvan Joseph Baird, son of Isham Harrison Baird and Clarissa Bushnell, on 28 July 1836 in Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas..3 The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 17 September 1850 in the Navarro District, Navarro County, Texas, listed Maria B. Baird as the 39-year-old residing with Alvin Baird.1 The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 5 July 1860 in the Corsicana post office area of Navarro County, Texas, listed Maria "Beard" as the 50-year-old residing with Robt. Beard.2 The census of 1 June 1880 enumerated on 4 June 1880 in Belton, Bell County, Texas, listed Mrs. Mariah "Baird", as the 68-year-old widowed mother of J. C. S. Baird.4 She died about 1880 in Bell County, Texas.3 Maria Barbara Baird was buried in Better County, Texas.3
