Death of Mrs. Wilson
Died - at Dell, Dec 13, 1901, Juda Ann Wilson, at the age of 75 years and 11 months, after an illness of four days. Her home was in Audrain County, MO. She had come to stay with her son, J. S. Wilson of Dell this winter, but God saw fit to call her home. Her funeral was preached Sunday at the Dell church by Rev. W.T. Swopes to a good congregation, considering the extreme cold weather. Her relatives from Audrain county were unable to be present. She was buried in the Johnson cemetery.
The deceased was born in Kentucky Jan. 15, 1823, and came to Ralls county, MO., with her father, Salman Shepherd when 12 years old. At the age of 15, she was married to John Wilson of Audrain county, where she has lived ever since. To this union was born five children, three sons and two daughters, all living except one, J. R. Wilson. Mrs. N. T. McGee lives in Ripley county; S. D. Wilson in Audrain county, Jas. Wilson in Benton county and M. R. Yeager in Monroe county. Her first husband died in 1857, when she married John Webster. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Lucy See, a resident of Polk county. After the death of her second husband she was married to John Clendening. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. M. B. Berry, now living in Monroe county. Mrs. Wilson united with the M. E. church about thirty-five years ago, and has lived a very consistent Christian life ever since. She told her son and his family that her work on earth was done and fell asleep in that sweet peace that none can give except Jesus. She will be missed by many, especially her relatives and neighbors. After the death of her last husband in the army, our deceased sister said that she felt her mission was to nurse the sick and help the distressed. She was known as Aunt Juda Wilson. The night was never too dark or stormy for her to go to the bedside of the sick when she was called. She was always kind and sweet tempered, and after having fulfilled well her mission on earth she has been gathered to her reward. Our loss is her gain, but God doeth all things well.1
