Francis Lafayette (Lafe) Willingham
     Francis Lafayette Willingham was born 10 October 1858 in Missouri.1 He was the son of George W. Willingham and Permelia Ann Wilson. Francis Lafayette Willingham was commonly known as Lafe. The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 5 July 1860 in the Macon post office area of Hudson Township, Macon County, Missouri, listed Lafayette "Winingham" as a 1-year-old residing with George Winingham.2 The census of 1 June 1870 enumerated on 8 July 1870 in the Cairo post office area of Salt River Township, Randolph County, Missouri, listed Lafayette "Wellingham", as a 12-year-old residing with George Wellingham.3 He married Forest Ellen Baird, daughter of Joseph Alvin Baird and Mary Ann Elizabeth Hipp, on 10 December 1879 in Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas..4 Lafe Willingham became a Master Mason on 6 November 1886 in Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas.5 He was a butcher in Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma, on 30 October 1892.6 He took out a $10.15 mortgage on his butcher shop equipment and one saddle on 20 June 1894 in Nevada County, Arkansas,

     Know all men by these presents, That I,
F L Willingham of the County of Nevada and State of Arkansas, for and in consideration of the sum of Ten and 15/100 Dollars to me in hand paid by M L Moore of the County of Nevada and State aforesaid, the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge and for the further consideration of such supplies of provisions, merchandise, money, etc., as the same M L Moore may furnish to me, to the 1st day of August, 1894, said supplies to be limited at his option, but not to exceed the sum of Thirty five ($3500) dollars, I hereby grant, bargain and sell to said M L Moore the following-described property, viz: One meat Counter, One Counter scales, Two meat Blocks, One roll paper Cutter, Three meat Racks, Two meat saws, Two steels, Two Clevers, One Sausage mill, One Sausage stuffer, One pair ornamental horns, One steak knife, One Block Brush, One Lard Trowell, One Ice Box, One Saddle. All of said property warranted free of incumbrances, and against any adverse claim.
     To have and to hold the same unto the said
M L Moore his heirs and assigns, forever. Conditioned that should I pay to said M L Moore on or before the 1st day of August 1894 such sum as may be due to him as aforesaid, then this Mortgage to be void, otherwise to be in full force and effect. But in default of such payment by the time specified, or should I suffer to be removed or disposed of, or attempt to remove or dispose of, any of said property before said indebtedness is paid, or should I at any time, abandon or suffer to go to waste, or fail to take the usual proper care of the same, then the said M L Moore is hereby empowered to take immediate possession of any or all of said property, and sell the same, or a sufficiency thereof to pay said indebtedness, at public auction, for cash, after having given ten days notice of the time, terms and place of sale in the manner required for sales under execution from Justice of the Peace; and of the proceeds of such sale he shall pay, first, the expenses of recording and executing this trust; second said debt; the balance, if any, to me or my legal representatives.

He died on 3 September 1896 in Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas, of rabies from a mad dog bite.
     Lafe was delivering meat when he was bitten by the dog. He didn't get it taken care of quickly enough and died as a result.1,8
He was buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Nevada County, Arkansas.8,9
