     John W. Davis, son of William H. Davis and Sarah Elizabeth (Allgood) Davis, was born 23 March 1814 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.1 On the census of 1820 in Henderson County, Kentucky, John W. was probably a male under 10 years of age residing with William Davis.2 He married Sally Overby, daughter of Yearby Overby and Elizabeth Willingham, on 29 October 1850..3 He died at age 51 years, 2 months and 27 days on 19 June 1865 in Henderson County, Kentucky.4
