Willingham, born in Missouri as a 5-year-old residing with George Willingham.2 The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 5 July 1860 in the Macon post office area of Hudson Township, Macon County, Missouri, listed James T. "Winingham" as a 14-year-old residing with George Winingham.3 James Thomas Willingham and Warren Victor Willingham enrolled in the Missouri Militia on 30 April 1864 in Macon County, Missouri.4 James Thomas Willingham served in the military between 29 September 1864 and 2 November 1864 in Macon, Macon County, Missouri; as a private in Company K, 62nd Regiment E.M.M.5,4 The census of 1 June 1870 enumerated on 8 July 1870 in the Cairo post office area of Salt River Township, Randolph County, Missouri, listed James T. James.14 James Thomas Willingham lived in Lawton, Cherokee County, Kansas, in 1914.15
