Loyal Reed Cortsen married his second cousin, Madeline Staples, daughter of Ammon Franklin Staples and Caroline Johnson, on 13 November 1942..1 Loyal Reed Cortsen died on 4 August 1945 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona.1
