Samuel Leonidas Hipp was born 20 April 1845 in Laurens District, South Carolina.1 Samuel Leonidas Hipp was also known as Lonzo Hipp. He was the son of Samuel Leonidas Hipp Sr. and Meeky East. Samuel Leonidas Hipp was also known as Lon Hipp. The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 30 July 1850 in Laurens District, South Carolina, listed Leonidas "Hipp" as a 4-year-old residing with Meeky Hipp.2 The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 6 August 1860 in the Antoine post office area of Missouri Township, Pike County, Arkansas, listed S.
