Susan Mahala Willingham was born 5 June 1854 in Missouri.1 She was the daughter of George W. Willingham and Permelia Ann Wilson. The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 5 July 1860 in the Macon post office area of Hudson Township, Macon County, Missouri, listed Susan "Winingham" as a 5-year-old residing with George Winingham.2 The census of 1 June 1870 enumerated on 8 July 1870 in the Cairo post office area of Salt River Township, Randolph County, Missouri, listed Susan "Wellingham", as a 16-year-old residing with George Wellingham.3 Susan Mahala Willingham married Robert Ferdinand Beard on 21 December 1871 in Randolph County, Missouri..1,4,5

Susey wasn't' actually a widow as Robert didn't die until 2 July 1919. He had just left her. Her husband, Robert Ferdinand Beard, died on 2 July 1919 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas.9,10 Susan Mahala Beard died on 18 March 1940 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas.8,11 She was buried in the Highland Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, . No tombstone was found for her grave, however.11
