William Albert Hipp was born 25 January 1837 in Laurens District, South Carolina.1 He was the son of Samuel Leonidas Hipp Sr. and Meeky East. The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 6 August 1860 in the Antoine post office area of Missouri Township, Pike County, Arkansas, listed W. A. Hipps as a 23-year-old residing with Meeky Hipps.2 William Albert Hipp served in the military between 1861 and 1865; 6th Arkansas Infantry of the Confederate Army
