James Pinckney Hipp, son of Samuel Leonidas Hipp Sr. and Meeky East, was born 4 February 1839 in Laurens District, South Carolina.1,2 James Pinckney Hipp married Clarinda Couch, daughter of Mathew Couch and Louisa (__?__) Couch, in 1861 in Pike County, Arkansas..3 James Pinckney Hipp began military service in January 1862 in Pike County, Arkansas; in the 19th Arkansas Volunteers of the Confederate Army.4 He served in the military; the Confederate Army until his death.
[LIND] James P. Hipp was captured at Arkansas Post, 11 Jan 1863, being carried to Camp Douglas, Ill. He was exchanged at City Point, VA.4
