Susan McAllister

     Susan McAllister was born 17 May 1807 near Nashville in Davidson County, Tennessee.1,2
According to Baird and Baird, Susan was part Indian. Even though she was born in Tennessee, she considered herself a Virginian
She married James Ithamar Baird, son of Isham Harrison Baird and Clarissa Bushnell, circa 1826..3,4 On the census of 1830 in Fayette County, Tennessee, Susan was probably a female of 20 and under 30 years of age residing with Jams Baird. On the census of 1840 in Conway County, Arkansas, Susan was probably a female of 30 and under 40 years of age residing with James Baird.5 She and James Ithamar Baird moved to a residence in Princeton, Dallas County, Arkansas, after 1847.6
The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 17 October 1850 in Jackson Township, Dallas County, Arkansas, listed the following:

Joseph "Baid", 19-year-old.7
Harrison "Baid", 18-year-old.7
Malvina A. "Baid", 11-year-old.7
David "Baid", 10-year-old.7

Hester A. "Baid", 3-year-old.7

The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated in 1860 in the Stover post office area of Jackson Township, Dallas County, Arkansas, listed the following:
Susan Baird, 44-year-old head of household, a farmer.8
David A. "Baird", 18-year-old, a laborer.8
Geo. W. "Baird", 16-year-old.8
Hester A. "Baird", 13-year-old.8

Susan Baird owed taxes from 1861 to 1863 in Dallas County, Arkansas.6 She died in 1877 in Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas.4 She was buried in the Providence Cemetery located 5 miles North of Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas.4,9
