About 35 years ago he came to Benton County and established his home near Fristoe where he lived for more than 25 years and is well known throughout the southern part of the county. Something like four years ago he moved back to his old home at Mexico, Mo., where he has since lived.

During the Civil War he served nearly four years as a private in the Union army. He lived an active life and was engaged in buying and selling land and also dealt extensively in livestock. He was recognized as a man of sterling integrity and moral worth.
