Temperance Elliott was born about 1797 in North Carolina.1 She married Osbourn Skeen, son of Jacob Skeen and Alliphair Hearne, about 1824..2,1 On the census of 1840 in Davidson County, North Carolina, Temperance was probably a female of 40 and under 50 years of age residing with Osborn Skeen.3 The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 27 October 1850 in the Southern Division, Davidson County, North Carolina, listed Temperence "Skeen" as a 53-year-old female residing with Osborne Skeen.1
