     Thomas Jefferson Winningham, son of Gerrald Winningham Jr. and Nancy Ann Roberts, was born about 1811 in Virginia.2 Thomas Jefferson Winningham was the son of Gerrald Winningham Jr. and Nancy Ann Roberts.
The census of 1840 in Haywood County, Tennessee, listed Jefferson Winningham as a head-of-household with tallies 00002-0 which indicates:
A male of 20 and under 30 years of age, probably Thomas Jefferson.3
A male of 20 and under 30 years of age, probably his brother Peter.3


The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 7 September 1850 in Haywood County, Tennessee, listed Thos. J. "Winningham" as a 39-year-old residing with Jarrell Winningham.1 The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 11 September 1860 in the 9th District, Haywood County, Tennessee, listed Jefferson "Winningham" as a 48-year-old residing with Jarel Winningham.2
The census of 1 June 1870 enumerated on 17 August 1870 in the Brownsville post office area of District 9, Haywood County, Tennessee, listed the following:
T. J. Winnigher, 60-year-old head of household, a farmer.4
Mary Chandler, 65-year-old.4
