     Rebecca Winningham, daughter of Gerrald Winningham and Mary Johnson, was born about 1774 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. Rebecca Winningham was also known as Rebecca Willingham. She was the daughter of Gerrald Winningham and Mary Johnson. Rebecca Winningham married William Finch on 12 December 1792 in Halifax County, Virginia..1 Rebecca Finch died before 1807.2 John Winningham had his estate challenged in a law suit in April 1807 in Halifax County, Virginia,

     Jerry Willingham, Johnson Willingham, Gerald Willingham, brother of John Willingham decd., Royal Daniel & Nancy his wife, a sister of the decedent, Richard Stone, Sally his wife also a sister of the decedent and Polly Powell another sister of the decedent . . . . Defendants
     By consent of the parties, this cause comes in to be heard upon the bill and so move - On consideration whereof it is deemed and ordered that Hanson Clark, Beverly Lyderer, John Barkdale, John Faulk, and Adam Teet any three of them who are appointed commissioners for that purpose do resort to take at public auction the tract of land whereof John Willingham decd. seized lying in the County. One half of the purchase money payable the twenty fifth day of December next and the remaining half, the twenty fifth day of December 1808, the purchaser giving bond with good Seventy for the punctual payment of the same; and that the Commissioners convey to the purchaser the fee simple estate in the decd. land. And it is further ordered that the said Commissioners, do divide the money arising from the sale into eight parts, one of which they shall allot to the plaintiffs, John Nance, Sally Nance, Frederick Nance, Polly Nance, Ivy Nance, Johnson Nance, and Fanny Nance, children of Tavener Nance who intermarried with Milly, a sister of said John Willingham decd. One other part to the plaintiffs, Jesse Finch, Patsy Finch, Polly finch and John Finch, children of William Finch, who intermarried with Rebecca, another sister of said decedent - And to the defendants, Jerry Willingham, Johnson Willingham, Gerald Willingham, Nancy Daniels, Sally Stone and Fanny Powell, brothers and sisters of the said decedent each, one part agreeably to the prayer of the bill and as the law directs. And report the same to the court, that a final decree may be made in this suit. It appearing to the sales faction of the court, that the land, if divided among the parties entitled thereto, the dividend of each will not be worth one hundred dollars.
