     James Hipp was born 15 March 1789 in Newberry District, South Carolina.1 He was the son of Joseph Hipp. On the census of 1790 in Newberry District, South Carolina, James was probably a male under 16 years of age residing with Joseph Hipp.2 On the census of 1800 in Newberry District, South Carolina, James was probably a male of 10 and under 16 years of age residing with Joseph Hip.3 On the census of 1810 in Laurens District, South Carolina, James was probably a male of 16 and under 26 years of age residing with Joseph Hipp.4 He married Parkey Spencer Vaughn circa 1812..1
