     Asa C. Lowhorn was born 18 December 1843 in Clinton County, Kentucky.2,3 He was the son of James Lowhorn and Lavina Pierce. The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 22 August 1850 in District 2, Clinton County, Kentucky, listed Asa "Lawhon", born in Kentucky as a 6-year-old male residing with James Lawhon.4 The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 27 June 1860 in the Albany post office area of Clinton County, Kentucky, listed Asa "Lowhorn" as a 16-year-old residing with James Lowhorn.5 Asa C. Lowhorn married Louisa Hickman on 19 September 1861..6 Asa C. Lowhorn began military service on 23 August 1863 in Creelsboro, Russell County, Kentucky; in Company C of the 1st Kentucky (Veteran) Cavalry (Wolford's Cavalry).7,6 His wife, Louisa Lowhorn, died before June 1865.8 Asa C. Lowhorn married his first cousin, Mariah Caroline Cumming, daughter of Joshua D. Lowhorn and Louisa Stockton, on 21 June 1865 in Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky..9 Asa C. Lowhorn ended military service on 30 October 1865 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.6

The census of 1 June 1880 enumerated on 10 June 1880 in Glenville Precinct 9, Adair County, Kentucky, listed the following:
Asa Lawhorn, 36-year-old head of household, a farmer.11
Mariah C. "Lawhorn", 40-year-old wife.11
Leonard K. "Lawhorn", 13-year-old son, a farm worker.11
Andrew J. "Lawhorn", 11-year-old son, a farm worker.11
Henry B. "Lawhorn", 6-year-old son.11
He and Mariah Caroline Lowhorn were divorced probably in Adair County, Kentucky. Asa C. Lowhorn married Minnie H. Shearrer circa 1893..12,1
The census of 1 June 1900 enumerated on 18 June 1900 in White Township, Polk County, Arkansas, listed the following:
Asa Lowhorn, 56-year-old head of household, married 7 years.12
Minnie H. "Lowhorn", 34-year-old wife, married 7 years with 3 children of whom 2 were still living.12
James P. "Lowhorn", 5-year-old son.12
Sarah B. "Lowhorn", 2-year-old daughter.12

On 30 July 1900 Asa C. Lowhorn patented 120 acres of land in Polk County, Arkansas.
"... the land office at Camden, Arkansas ... the South half of the South East quarter of section ten and the South West quarter of the South West quarter of section eleven in Township four south of Range thirty-two West of the Fifth Principal Meridian in Arkansas, containing one hundred and twenty acres ..."13
His wife, Minnie H. Lowhorn, died on 26 January 1901 in Cove, Polk County, Arkansas.2,1 Asa C. Lowhorn died on 9 October 1907, on a train probably in eastern Tennessee while looking for a home for his children.2,6 He was buried in the Mountain Home Cemetery, Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee.6
