     Sherwood S. Lawhorn, son of Benjamin Bennett Lawhorn and Sally Thomas, was born about 1820.1 Sherwood S. Lawhorn was the son of Benjamin Bennett Lawhorn and Sally Thomas. Sherwood S. Lawhorn was also known as Sherrod S. Lawhorn. On the census of 1830 in Casey County, Kentucky, Sherwood S. was probably a male of 10 and under 15 years of age residing with Benj. Laughorn.2 On the census of 1840 in Liberty, Casey County, Kentucky, Sherwood S. was probably a male of 20 and under 30 years of age residing with Benja Lawhorn.3 He married Phoebe Rogers on 4 March 1841 in Casey County, Kentucky..4
The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 8 August 1850 in Franklin Township, Johnson County, Indiana, listed the following:
Sherrod Lawhorn, 29-year-old head of household, a laborer.1
Phoebe "Lawhorn", 28-year-old.1
Mary Jane "Lawhorn", 7-year-old.1
Margaret "Lawhorn", 6-year-old.1
Benjamin F. "Lawhorn", 2-year-old.1


A Commissioners deed was processed on 15 August 1853 for Benjamin F. Lawhorn who was the high bidder for his father's (dec'd) land in which all the heirs were named5 Sherwood S. Lawhorn was included as an heir.5
The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 13 June 1860 in the Franklin post office area of Franklin Township, Johnson County, Indiana, listed the following:
Shered Lawhorn, 39-year-old head of household, an engineer in a saw mill.6

He died between 1864 and 1870, presumably as Phebe is listed as head-of-household in the 1870 census but Ida was born in 1865.7,8
