     James Lowhorn, son of Thomas Lowhorn and Mary Ann Sweeney, was born about 1820 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.1,2 On the census of 1830 in Cumberland County, Kentucky, James was probably a male of 5 and under 10 years of age residing with Thomas Lowhorn.3 On the census of 1840 in Clinton County, Kentucky, James was probably a male of 15 and under 20 years of age residing with John Lowhorn.4 He married Lavina Pierce, daughter of William Pierce and Nancy __?__, about 1843..5,6
