     William Leroy Lawhorn Jr., son of William Leroy Lawhorn and Sarah Hickman, was born 17 July 1836 in Rush Creek, Jo Daviess County, Illinois.1,2 William Leroy Lawhorn Jr. was the son of William Leroy Lawhorn and Sarah Hickman. On the census of 1840 in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, William Leroy was probably a male under 5 years of age residing with William Laughrun.3 The census of 1 June 1850 enumerated on 30 October 1850 in Elizabeth Precinct, Jo Daviess County, Illinois, listed William L. "Lawhorn" as a 14-year-old residing with William Lawhorn.4 He married Josephine L. Deeds, daughter of Bryant Deeds and Sarah L. (Null) Deeds, on 26 October 1855 in Stockton, Jo Daviess County, Illinois..1,5

Lawhorn was buried on 17 January 1918 in the Lena Burial Park, Lena, Stephenson County, Illinois.10,11 William Leroy Lawhorn Jr. married his sister-in-law, Anna Lawhorn, daughter of Joseph Maltby and Jane (Walker) Maltby, on 25 December 1918 in California..2

His wife, Anna Lawhorn, died on 27 June 1925 in the Monte Vista Tract, Ontario, San Bernardino County, California.2 Anna Lawhorn was buried in the Bellevue Cemetery, Ontario, San Bernardino County, California; , next to her first husband, Benjamin Franklin Lawhorn.1,13 William Leroy Lawhorn Jr. died on 26 December 1930 at his son Joseph's home in Garner, Hancock County, Iowa.1 He was buried in the Lena Burial Park, Lena, Stephenson County, Illinois.

William Lawhorn, Garner, IA
     Lena, Ill., Dec 29 k- William Lawhorn, Sr., of Garner, Ia, a former well known resident of Lena and community passed away at his home in Garner at the age of 94 years. He had been in ill health for about a month, his death being due to a stroke which he suffered several weeks ago.
     Born on July 17, 1836 at Rush Creek,/ JoDaviess county, Mr. Lawhorn was reared in this section. He was twice married, the first when he was nineteen years of age. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom are surviving. Following the death of his first wife he was again married in California, his wife having passed away about four years ago.
     Those left to survive are Mrs. Eliza Stoker, of Whitewater, Minn; W. F. Lawhorn, of near Lena; George Lawhorn, of Garner, Ia., with whom he had made his home for the past number of years; Joseph, also of Garner; Mrs. Josephine Byram, of Oklahoma City, Okla; Horace and Charles, of Garner.
     Funeral services will be held in Iowa following which the remains will be brought to Lena where brief services will take place at Lena cemetery at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be made in the Lena cemetery
     He had attained all the chairs and was a past noble grand in the Odd Fellows Lodge. Both he and Josephine took the Rebekah Degree. He was initiated into the Odd Fellows at Elizabeth, Ill. then on to Lena. He assisted in organizing the Republican Party in that district casting his first vote for Lincoln in 1860 and in 1864, but later in life voted with the prohibition party. In Jo Daviess County, he served as sheriff, constable, township assessor, 2 terms as collector and on the school board.1,14
