She was born 13 October 1835 in Clinton County, Kentucky.1,2 She married Noah Lawhorn, son of Henry Lawhorn and Sarah West, on 6 September 1852 in Clinton County, Kentucky..3 The census of 1 June 1860 enumerated on 10 July 1860 in the Albany post office area of Clinton County, Kentucky, listed Virginia N. "Lawhorn" as a 24-year-old residing with Noah Lawhorn.4 The census of 1 June 1870 enumerated on 21 July 1870 in the Albany post office area of District 3, Clinton County, Kentucky, listed Virginia "Lowhorne", as a 32-year-old residing with Noah Lowhorne.5 The census of 1 June 1880 enumerated on 25 June 1880 in Clinton County, Kentucky, listed Virginies "Lohorn", as the 43-year-old wife of Noah Lohorn.6
The census of 1 June 1900 enumerated on 3 June 1900 in Neathery Precinct, Clinton County, Kentucky, listed the following:
Virginia M. Lawhorn, 65-year-old widowed female head of household, a farmer with 8 children of whom 6 were still living.7
Noah P. "Lawhorn", 30-year-old son.7
James D. "Lawhorn", 26-year-old son, a house painter.7
The census of 15 April 1910 enumerated on 16 April 1910 in Glens Fork Precinct 8, Adair County, Kentucky, listed Virginia M. "Lawhorn", with 8 children of whom 5 were still living, as the 74-year-old widowed mother of James D. Lawhorn.8 Virginia Melissa Lawhorn died on 6 April 1916 in Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky.1,9,2 She was buried in the Lawson Cemetery, Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky.9
