On the census of 1820 in Bedford County, Virginia, John was probably a male under 10 years of age residing with Daniel Lorhornv.2 On the census of 1830 in Monroe County, Virginia, John was probably a male of 10 and under 15 years of age residing with Danniel Lawhon.3 The census of 1 June 1870 enumerated on 18 August 1870 in the Sweet Springs post office area of Sweet Springs Township, Monroe County, West Virginia, listed John "Lawhorn", a farm hand, as a 52-year-old residing with Kissie Lawhorn.1
